Sport

We in Shountrade have enjoyed much success in sport over the years. We have a long sporting tradition in the school and Shountrade is still a great hurling area.  Many past pupils have worn the Adare jersey with distinction and some have gone on to wear the green and white county jersey.

Shountrade National School promotes a wide variety of sports.  In recent years, Shountrade National School has achieved outstanding success in West Limerick Primary Schools hurling, football and camogie leagues and enjoys continued support from parents, neighbours and friends.  We have won the West Limerick 15-a-side hurling and the mini-sevens football titles. We have represented West Limerick with distinction in the County finals at a number of these competitions in recent years.  We have also been the outright winners of the now distinguished Árd Scoil Rís hurling tournament and currently hold the Árd Scoil Rís shield.  Many past pupils have achieved great success representing Shountrade National School, their club – Adare and their county too.
